Travel Traditions

Do you have any traditions you associate with traveling? My old roommate mentioned once that whenever he returns to Germany after time abroad, he cuts himself a thick slice of German bread and slathers it with butter, which he sits down to enjoy. Afterwards he stands under the shower and enjoys a good German beer.
I’m not as proud of mine. Since leaving Germany the first time in April 2010, I’ve started eating at MacDonalds as my last meal in a country. This isn’t out of any particular brand loyalty; rather, I’ve found a MacDonalds at the airports I’ve left from. I did have to make a concession leaving YVR this time – they didn’t have a MacDonalds in the international departures section, so A&W had to do!

I like to sacrifice the nearest street animal before I before I board a plane to appease fickle Mercury.
